I-Professional Design and Leadership Experience (1997-2017)

After graduating from the university in my home country of Lebanon, serving in the military directorate of engineering, and spending my first official experienced year as an interior architect in Dubai, I have moved to Saudi Arabia and started my career as a sales Engineer, getting a real hand dealing with various sophisticated customers with different taste and perspectives. I was involved in Sales strategies gave me the opportunity to understand the psychology of clients and how to approach them and close the deal by using my communication and free-hand sketching skills for an instant explanation of ideas. After being promoted to “Chief Designer” then “Design Manager,” I started dealing directly with the wooden and joinery factory, working on prototypes detailing and supervising the production process. I implemented the latest fashion in design and materials from the local and international exhibitions, workshops and seminars attended. I started developing the entire Design library and remodeling the company’s showrooms in different cities in the Gulf region. This phase required direct conferring with VIP clientele and determining their budget and their interior design preferences. It also required supervising the design department during the brainstorming, implementation, and upon completion of the design ideas and presenting them for approval. The executed projects were located not only in the Gulf region but also in cities like Cairo, Beirut, Geneva, and London. My last promotion to “Area Manager” included directing the Sales and Marketing Operations to all branches and becoming the Finishing and Design Advisor at the company’s product development committee. This phase got me involved intensely with the latest materials and finishes, it gave me the ability to balance my artistic expression with the needs and wants of the market and to stay on budget while doing it.

After more than ten years of continuous service, I have decided to move on to a better opportunity by holding the position of “Managing Director”. It required me to manage the architectural and interior design office in addition to the showrooms. I had access to major European and American brands in furniture, lighting, and accessories within the local and global markets. I utilized and expanded my managerial skills to develop new improvement plans for the company for two years.

To remain in the Design field, I had to pursue another opportunity by Co-founding a new Design company from scratch with a VIP person, who shared the same genuine passion for architecture and design in all its diverse purposes and dimensions of beauty, elegance, innovation, and mystery. I managed, supervised, and was involved in all the Design phases from idea scratches to the full design completion. Our vision was to upgrade the quality of clients’ lives by creating timeless, joyous spaces that make a tangible difference for individuals, businesses, or institutions.

Every project I took presented a unique opportunity for me to allow differentiation by merging the clients’ unique needs with the whole distinguished Design Department signature, by bringing forth a concept that was exemplified with life, creativity, and originality. My experience in key fields of Interior Design, namely Conceptualization and material selection have been extremely valuable assets and key success factors for the entire team and company. I Developed the company’s local production of Furniture and joinery work through expanding and building local factories and warehouses; I followed up Quality, Creativity & Productivity at these customized furniture and wood factories such as Upholstery work, Curtains, and drapery sewing work, wooden joinery work. I also designed, specified, and supervised the site work such as artistic walls and ceiling painting, lighting fixtures installation, tiling work, landscape, and hardscape design, etc.

Between 2013 and 2016, I had to take long-distance flights between two cities on monthly basis: Riyadh, Saudi Arabia where I was the managing director of an international design company, and Dallas, Texas, where our sister company was situated.

II-Teaching Experience (2017-present)

In the Summer of 2017, I physically taught classes for three consecutive years, at the University of Idaho. In the fall semester of the same year, I was approached to give 5 design communication workshops with live demos of freehand, hybrid sketching/ rendering, poster, portfolio design, and AutoCAD. These workshops became the foundations of a new course, design communication, that became an essential part of the ID curriculum at the University of Idaho.

III-Professional Consultation (2017-present)

I am also a design and administration consultant for an architectural and interior design firm overseas. I am also a liaison with the American furniture and accessories companies. My last contribution in the last year was designing and supervising the execution of a large hospitality project in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
